Kidney care awareness in SS3, Petaling Jaya

More than 300 residents attended the Kidney Care Awareness event held at the covered basketball court, next to the Dewan Serbaguna Jalan SS3/14, on 28th November 2010.

It was a success judging by the large crowd who came to have their blood pressure and blood sugar checked and listened to the talk on kidney disease and prevention. The health screening included check on height, weight and blood pressure as well as blood test for heamoglobin and blood glucose.

The event was jointly organised by Rotary Club of Damansara West, SS3 Residents Association (RA) and Brahma Kumari Association Malaysia (BKAM).

SS3 RA chairman Dr. Wong Sai Hou, who is also Petaling Jaya Utara (PJU) federal development coordinator, launched the event to help raise awareness of kidney diseases in the community and encourage a healthier lifestyle.

The program was coordinated by Petaling Jaya Utara (PJU) federal development office and supported by National Kidney Foundation (NKF), CIMB Community Link and Cancer Society Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan.

Project coordinator Nikhil C. Kothari thanked CIMB Foundation for the RM52,000 grant to carry out the program.

Two booklets on “Kidney Health - What you should know” and “A Healthy Kidney Begins with A Healthy Diet” were distributed to the public.

Good turnout: More than 300 people took the opportunity to attend the free health check. They were very appreciative of the valuable information given to them on ‘Kidney Health’.
